Portoroz is located on the northern shore of the Piran Bay in the municipality of Piran and is an important tourist, bathing and spa centre, with many accommodation facilities in hotels and guesthouses. The settlement is in an area where members of the Italian national community live autochthonously and where, in addition to Slovenian, Italian is also the official language.
